Mental altitude since 1200
We are in the upper Valle Versa, Oltrepò Pavese, southern Lombardy. Altitude that inspires, landscapes that breathe and a vibe all our own. This is a unique gem nestled between Piedmont, Liguria and Emilia Romagna, where flavours mingle, blend and fuse together. And you can taste them, in every sip.
120 HECTARES OF PURE DELIGHT
90 hectares of vines; 30 hectares of woodland since nature reclaims its space as well. And well, yes, there’s even a hunting reserve. Here we work with respect and without rush, with a glimpse of the future and well-anchored roots in a unique terroir.
FULL SUN, PRIME SOILS
Our vineyards face south/south-west; that’s optimal exposure and guaranteed tan for the grapes. The soil? Clay and active limestone are the winning combo for the undisputed king of these hills: the Pinot Nero.
CASEO WAS ALREADY A LEGEND BACK IN 1200
The Estate already existed in the Middle Ages. Documents state
that it was donated to Gian Galeazzo Visconti for battlefield merits. A gift that has survived, untouched, until the present days (And we aren’t talking about an NFT here). Today it sparkles in a bottle.
STRABO ALREADY KNEW IT
Already back in 40 B.C. people spoke (well) of wine from this area. It wasn’t called “good” just to say it; it was truly fine wine. Today? Well, today we are in the first wine terroir of Lombardy.
OLTREPÒ: NO LIMITS
Here Lombardy opens up to the rest of Italy. It’s a crossroads in constant motion where Piedmont, Liguria, Emilia blend, sense and influence one another, creating an agricultural, cultural and gastronomic melting pot.
NOBILITY & CASTLES ….. VOILA’
Noble families left their mark across these lands raising castles,
villas, enduring visions and bequeathing vineyards that, even today, continue to speak, inspire and pour their legacy into every glass.
LOMBARDS … THE ONES YOU STUDIED AT SCHOOL
In Pavia, the capital of the kingdom, craftsmen, warriors and
pioneers left their mark everywhere.
Just like Queen Theodolinda’s crown. Spoiler: it was also worn by Charlemagne, Napoleon and the House of Savoy. Usual emperor-style flex.
